JE Foot and Ankle Associates takes Care of your Foundation
Feet and ankles support your entire body. This foundation is among the most important part of the human anatomy. Which is why foot and ankle health can greatly impact your overall well-being.
The foot and ankle have 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. That amounts to a lot of areas where something can go wrong. Add to that the possibility of ingrown nails, corns, calluses and bunions on the exterior of the foot. Issues are often compounded by activities that push the limits of our extremities, like sports and dance.
For Drs. Emily Ernst and Jeffrey Jackson, it was years of ballet and soccer, respectively, that slowly took their toll on their feet and ankles. Having personally experienced activity-related injuries (some which even required surgery), Drs. Ernst and Jackson set out to pursue careers in podiatry to help alleviate the same pain for others that they had endured for so long.
Fast forward through years of college culminating in doctoral degrees in podiatric medicine, as well as extensive training in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. Drs. Ernst and Jackson now ease hundreds of patients’ pain through their practice, JE Foot & Ankle Associates.
Celebrating their five-year anniversary this month, JE Foot & Ankle Associates has two offices, one in Palm Coast and one in Fleming Island, enabling them to help as many people as possible. Providing classical medicine and care with a modern approach, JE Foot & Ankle Associates offers the full array of podiatric services including foot and ankle surgery, treatment of sports injuries, general foot care and diabetic foot and wound care.
A family business, JE Foot & Ankle Associates considers staff as well as patients part of their family and cares for them as such. But it is their personal experiences that allow them to relate to their patients in a unique way. Understanding first-hand the pain patients experience, enables them to not only better understand the problems but also to provide different perspectives in treating them.
The most rewarding part of their jobs? Being able to help someone, almost immediately, to alleviate pain or discomfort. “Patients walk in with pain or frustration about an injury/infection/wound, and we ease the pain and frustration with a tailored treatment plan,” explained Dr. Ernst.
